Thank You! Dear Mr. Glass! I saw you perform in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1986 ish? Songs from Liquid Days introduced me to your music. I ecstatically loved it!! I had never heard anything like it before...or since...it touched me in a way I can't describe! Bravissimo!!!! You are the absolute best!!! Happy Birthday!!! Thank you, thank you , thank you !!!

From the movie Breathless which I saw as a kid, I remembered one piece that filled me with melancholia, lost love, deep love, longing for "her" even though I never experienced these emotions in reallife for any girl I met since I was simply too young. Two decades later with internet and its possibilities I decided to look for that song. "Opening"...And a couple of years later I actually had a short conversation with its creator, Philip Glass, who I met after a concert. Very humble, kind person willing to talk about things, about the old days and even asking me for my opinion on the accoustics of they venue. I thought they were excellent and so did he. Two years later they did recordings there (we were told since I was there too) but whatever came out of it I don't know. Anyway: opening and also closing which is somewhat different, are still some of my favourite pieces of him.

Absolutely beautiful! I always wondered how it would - or even it could - be played on guitar. Just WOW!

There are few people that I think of who truly make the world a better place because of the work they do. Philip Glass is one of them. His piano solos can smooth over the roughest of days. Thank you, happy birthday and I hope you have many more.

It is a pity that an Austrian Bösendorfer grand piano has to forfeit its reputation for this rather jerky recording. The grand piano vibrates wildly and undamped at 1:04 min. The pianist has various problems with the complex rhythm of the piece. I recommend Paul Barton on an Austrian Feurich 218 grand piano (ua-cam.com/video/FdlNBggsJVY/v-deo.html) or, if necessary, Víkingur Ólafsson, unfortunately only available on a Steinway & sons grand piano (ua-cam.com/video/sZffgf4GoMQ/v-deo.html).

This is a nice little piece of early Glass, but 7 minutes of it?! There's not enough going on here to fill 7 minutes.

I was very lucky to see the premiere of the Etudes at Brooklyn Academy of Music. Twelve different players took the stage, one at a time, each having their own piano bench brought out and returned after their Etude was played. It was a beautiful evening and this wonderful performance just adds to the beauty. Thank you for posting.
